What is PLA?
SUNY Canton’s Cybersecurity program recognizes the value of industry certifications and real-world experience. Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) allows you to convert your background into academic credit, reducing time to graduation and overall cost.

Your experience must align with two or more of the eight domains:
- Security & Risk Management
- Asset Security
- Security Architecture & Engineering
- Communication & Network Security
- Identity & Access Management (IAM)
- Security Assessment & Testing
- Security Operations
- Software Development Security

Experience Requirements
Full-Time
35 hrs/week for 15 weeks = 1 semester
Part-Time
20–34 hrs/week
650 hours = 1 semester
Internships
Paid or unpaid internships count if they do not earn CYBR 485 credit. Documentation required.
